Wales Township was organized on March 27, 1841 and will be celebrating it's "175th Year Birthday" in 2016. We are largely an agricultural-residential community of approximately 3000 residents living in a thirty-six square mile township, located in the heart of St. Clair County, Michigan. St. Clair County is the easternmost county in the State of Michigan, at the base of the "thumb", where the foot of Lake Huron and the head of the St. Clair River join.

The museum has more than 4000 objects, photos, and documents that capture this tiny rural town's history. The collection of Whately pottery is extensive and represents most of the many Whately potters. And we have preserved the giant wooden milk bottle symbolizing the town's many dairy farms.

Wistariahurst is an historic house museum. The Museum offers a lively schedule of concerts, exhibits, house tours, and workshops. Through our collections, research, exhibits and programs the museum is dedicated to promoting an understanding and appreciation of the history and material culture of the William Skinner Family, members of the manufacturing elite, the working class who made that lifestyle possible and the Holyoke region where those people lived their lives. In all activities, the goal is to encourage today's public to encounter, enjoy and learn from the richly varied experiences and cultural expressions of the people who gave the Holyoke area its distinct character.

Willard House and Clock Museum

The museum opened in 1971 and features the world's largest collection of Willard clocks. The collection is displayed in period room settings in the 1718 Joseph Willard homestead, the 1766 Benjamin Willard Clock Manufactory and three modern galleries, and also includes: more than 90 Willard clocks; Willard family portraits and furnishings; Colonial, Federal and Empire period furniture; antique Oriental rugs; 19th century women's costumes; 18th century American and English pewter; Victorian dolls and doll furniture; military and hunting weapons; Nipmuc Indian artifacts; and original documents signed by Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.
