Bangor Church is located in the beautiful foothills of Butte County, southeast of Oroville. Bangor is a Gold Rush era town, which at one point had a population of 30,000. The Bangor Church is the oldest original church in Butte County, built in 1882. Today it is used as a museum celebrating the history of the local area. It also may be rented for weddings. Built in 1914 for George Stone Bloss, Jr. and his wife Christine it was designed by the architect William Bedesen. Built at the cost of $11,954, the house is 4080 square feet, including the enclosed porches. The architectural design of the house reflects the background of the Connecticut born family, with the construction materials that were used being common to California.

Tours start at 10:00 am and end around 12:00 noon. Sometimes they are slightly longer, so extra time should be allowed in case the walk meets an informative passerby or dwells at an interesting site. Tours are limited to 30 paying participants unless noted otherwise. Pre-paid reservations are required and tickets are not refundable. Tours are conducted in rain, shine or Berkeley fog and are wheelchair accessible unless otherwise noted.

The Museum's spectacular exhibits tell the story of the history of Brea from its founding in 1917 to the present. The exhibits tell the unique story of Brea and how this city fits in to the larger history of California and of the United States.

Catalina Island Museum

Located on the ground floor of the historic Casino Building in Avalon, the Catalina Island Museum explores the Island's rich cultural heritage. Permanent exhibits illustrate unique elements of Catalina's history including its evolution as a resort community, its role as the Chicago Cubs Spring Training venue, its links to Hollywood, and its prominence in the decorative tile and pottery industry. Docent led, tile walking tours are offered at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays (reservations required). Annual events include a Silent Film Benefit in June, a Tile and Pottery Extravaganza in September, and an Open House at Mt. Ada in December.
