The 30+ buildings set amid beautiful landscaping on 8 acres give the feel of a reproduction village showcasing how early Greeley and Weld County settlers lived, worked, played and worshipped. The High Plains area features Native American tipis, a homesteaders shack, chuck wagon and Warren Monfort farmhouse, where the 'Cattle Trails and Tales' exhibit traces the birth of the meat packing industry in Greeley. The central square features homes of various immigrant groups, a one-room school, church, railroad depot and streetcar. The 1920s business section has a working blacksmith shop, print shop and fire station with living quarters on the second floor. There is also an agricultural section with granary, silo and various farm implements.

The Museum is situated on 2½ acres of landscaped grounds. Historic Buildings include the Living Springs School (1891), Homestead House (1910), Wolf Creek School (1904), and the Strasburg Union Pacific Railroad Depot (1917). All are furnished with period artifacts.

Visitors to the center enjoy its wide collection of fossilized animals from the late Cretaceous period. A movie in the center's theater shows how scientists dig up fossils and get them ready for display. Even better, visitors can peer through windows into the paleo lab and watch specimens being prepared.

Experience it again at the Colorado Railroad Museum with over 100 narrow and standard gauge steam and diesel locomotives, passenger cars, cabooses and G-scale garden railway on our 15-acre railyard. Also, see our exhibit galleries, renowned library, roundhouse restoration facility and working turntable. Visit the General Store with thousands of train gifts for every rail fan. The Leanin’ Tree Museum and Sculpture Garden of Western and Wildlife Art features fine art paintings and bronzes of western America created after 1930. The collection consists of cowboys, Indians, wildlife and landscapes. Two hundred and fifty paintings and 150 bronze sculptures created by over 100 artists are on permanent display. We are a private corporate museum designed for leisurely, self-guided tours.

The Museum is located just east of Golden, Colorado, at a point where Clear Creek flows between North and South Table Mountains. Display tracks, complete with rare three-way stub switches and century-old switch stands, hold many historic narrow and standard gauge locomotives and cars. The Museum building, based in exterior design on standard station construction of the 1880s, houses the largest known collection of historic records, mementos, artifacts, and pictures of Colorado railroads.
