The purpose of this organization is to preserve the local history of Jersey Shore and the surrounding area and provide public education through formal meetings, school and organizational events, and social gatherings. We hope to add new members so we will be able to grow and expand. We also want to have fun while we are together and working on projects. By developing relationships and friendships, the organization will become even stronger.

For safekeeping and for use by Hessian descendants and researchers, JSHA has designated Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, as a repository for historical documents, manuscripts, artifacts, slides, tapes, and publications, etc. JSHA's modest but growing collection is available to the public in the Special Collections Department in the Martin Library of the Sciences during Library Hours (generally open 9-5 weekdays, year round).

John Brown Tannery Site

Located in the village of New Richmond, about 13 miles northeast of the city of Meadville, in Crawford County, PA, the John Brown tannery site is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is 850 feet south of state Route 77 on John Brown Road.
