The Largo Area Historical Society is a non profit Corporation chartered under Florida Law on October 17, 1973. We operate the Museum of Largo History, provide tours, publish historical books and have a publication titled "The Wise Cracker", Exec. Editor, Charlie Harper.

The Lee County Black History Society, Inc. (LCBHS) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. The organization is seeking financial sponsors and volunteers. Your continued support is needed for: 1. General operational expenses for our non-profit administrative office functions and organizational activities.2. Collecting and preserving local Black memorabilia and artifacts. 3. Development of historical archives.4. Displaying Exhibits 5. Developing of the Living History Classroom.

Climb to the top of the 1860 Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse - a great tour destination and the best view in Palm Beach County. A history Museum in a renovated WWII building exhibits "Five Thousand Years on the Loxahatchee," featuring Native American, Seminole, European Contact, Pioneer, Lighthouse and Military history, including a lighthouse video and Museum Gift Shop. Exterior exhibits include the 1892 Tindall Pioneer Homestead, Seminole Chickee & Kiosks, Keeper's Workshop as well as the Lighthouse and Oil House exhibit. The historic Lighthouse is the centerpiece of the federally designated Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area, one of only three in the entire country.

The Leesburg Historical Museum is located in the historic Woman’s Club Building just off Main Street. It houses artifacts and archives pertaining to businesses, city government, families, churches and social organizations that tell the story about Leesburg - from the days Leesburg was the Watermelon Capital of the country to the new millennia.

The Historical Society has a large collection of items relating to the history of Longboat Key, including: 1. Bound copies of all weekly newspapers that served Longboat Key; 2.Copies of Keynotes, the annual pamphlet giving names and addresses of all residents; 3. Over 1,000 photographs and maps, some going back to the early 1900's; 4. The bronze plaque from the old New Pass Bridge. The society has seasonal meetings with guest speakers presenting all phases of the history of Longboat Key.
