Built in 1833 on land that once was part of the royal compound of Kahekili, last chief of Maui, the Bailey House was once part of a school for Hawaiian girls and was the home of missionary teachers Edward and Caroline Bailey. The Bailey House is now a museum showcasing Hawaiian culture, artifacts, paintings and furnishings from 19th century Maui.

McBryde Garden visitors can explore 50 acres of diverse plant collections including Hawaiian native and ethnobotanical species, palms, rubiaceae (coffee family), zingiberales (heliconia family), and erythrina (coral trees). See exotic spices from allspice to vanilla on the Spice of Life Trail, and take a journey back in time in the Hawaiian Life Canoe Plant Garden and along the Biodiversity Trail.

Maui Crafts Guild

The Guild is Maui's only member owned and operated Fine Crafts Cooperative. Each and every day, one of the Guild members is working at the store. It had been located in the same location in Pa'ia since it began until the end of 2008, when it moved to the new location just a few doors down at 69 Hana Highway. Collectors from around the globe return to the store to find exquisite handmade crafts from Maui artisans.

Culture, History

This community center serves as a lively gathering place for MauiÕs Okinawan community and others interested in Okinawan culture. Displays of household furnishing, tools and musical instruments honor the first generation immigrants and their descendants.
