Fulton Mansion State Historic Site

Description

The Fulton Mansion is an 1870s French Second Empire Historic House museum constructed by George and Harriet Fulton. It is a wonderful and unique site for its unusual construction method, modern mechanical systems, and architecture. The site is owned and operated by the Texas Historical Commission. We also receive support from our non-profit friends group, the Friends of Fulton Mansion.

History

Purchased in 1976. The site opened to the public in 1983 and has run continually since.

Decorative arts; predominantly American-made; middle class; late 19th-century.

Research Collections

Focus on Fulton family archives. Available by appointment.

Programs

Docent program, of approximately 32 active guides; educational tours for school groups; summer classes for children., annual special event include Mansion Madness, Christmas at the Mansion and Ranching Heritage.
