Description

We are a community based museum. We're working hard to get more community involvment and to get programs and workshops up and operational for the public to enjoy. We have many neat exhibits and collections.

We have a small gift shop that sells various items. We also have a nice area to have a special event.

History

We moved into our building in 1974. It was designed as a museum from the beginning. We have been accreditated by the American Association of Museums (AAM) since 1979.

Artifact Collections

We have extensive collections from the history of Scurry County. Before there were any towns we have items from the buffalo hunters up to and including the oil boom in Scurry County in the 1950s.
